Tamagotchi and Hobonichi Techo have teamed up for a 2026 lineup of planners and stationery, and it's exactly as charming as you'd hope. The egg-and-watch virtual pet that swept the world in the late '90s turns 30 in 2026, and Hobonichi — the daily notebook that's been quietly keeping people's lives in order for decades — decided that was worth celebrating properly.
The heart of the collab is a new Weeks planner called "Our Tamagotchi." It's light blue, wrapped in the same smooth, silky fabric usually reserved for neckties, with pixel-art Tamagotchis from the original series and the "New Species Discovered!!" line woven right into the cover. This is posable, imaginable stuff — you look at a Tamagotchi striking its pose and you can almost see it bobbing and beeping on your childhood keychain again.
There's also a character cover, in A5 or A6, dotted with lively pixel pets in all kinds of mood\s. Both arrive with a bonus sheet of clear stickers showing the classic Meal, Snack, Heart, and Poop icons along with seasonal designs — genuinely the little details that make a Tamagotchi fan's pulse quicken.
If you scroll the lineup long enough, you'll spot a new face hiding among the old ones: Techotchi. Part Tamagotchi, part notebook, it's got a cute pink beak that can actually hold a pen and little triangular and square feet. Hobonichi billed it as "a new species discovered on the Hobonichi Techo," and honestly, that's the most on-brand thing either brand could have invented.
Around the planners there's a full stationery spread — decorative tape, note tags, bags, a pencil board sized for the Weeks — 17 items in total. It's the kind of setup where you could rebuild your entire desk in Tamagotchi without much effort, or just slip one sweet little detail into a notebook you already love.
And the shelf life here matters. Hobonichi has always been a no-pressure planner — the company itself says it should hold feelings and small moments, not just appointments. Add the gentle daily ritual of a Tamagotchi — checking in, feeding it, caring for it — and the two fit together far more naturally than an egg and a notebook written on paper sound. One is about tending to a little life; the other is about tending to the year you're actually living.
The line went on sale in Japan in early September and started showing up through Hobonichi's own store, the TOBICHI shops in Tokyo and Kyoto, Loft, Amazon, and Rakuten.
