What this is
TamaBuddy is a free virtual pet you can hatch and care for entirely in your browser. No app, no gadget, no batteries — just an egg that hatches into a small creature with real needs: food when it's hungry, play when it's bored, a clean space when it's messy, and rest when it's tired. Abandon its stats long enough and it will let you know.
It's a love letter to the classic digital-pet era — the egg-shaped keychain companions that started in 1996 — remade in plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Everything runs in your browser, and everything is remembered on your device, so your pet is still there when you come back.
Who made it
TamaBuddy is a side-project from the team behind fdhcl.com, a small collection of independent web projects. Its sister site is Hermes News, a technical news-and-guides site about the Hermes Agent AI coding assistant. Both are built the same way: by hand, with simple tools, and with a care for craft over hustle.
Why
Mostly, because a tiny creature that needs you is a nice thing to have around. In a busy, always-on world, caring for something small and simple — feeding it, watching it grow, keeping it safe — feels honest. It's one of those quiet pleasures that turned out to be good at any age.
What it costs
Nothing. No sign-up, no ads, no account. Your pet lives in your browser's own storage, on your device, and asks only for your time and attention.
