Starting September 3, 2026 (JST), a fresh "DL AREA" called Baby's Dream is live in the Tama Portal — and it trades the usual grown-up Tamagotchi world for a drowsy, giggling nursery.
So what do you actually get? The hook is baby-faced takes on beloved classic characters. There's Mametchi in tottering toddler form, barely staying upright. There's Mimitchi as a tiny, angelic little one. And there's Chamametchi — but not the sweet little girl you might expect; here she's grown up, playing teacher and looking after the whole tiny crew. They're hosted by Ms. Frill, who keeps order in the nursery. Your job, as the Uni's tamagotchi caretaker, is to soothe the little ones to sleep with a gentle rattle. It's less "raise a pet" and more "run nap time," and that change of pace is exactly the point.
Here's the catch if you're not used to the Uni's DLC system: Baby's Dream is sold as a Tamaverse Ticket, not a store item. You buy the ticket online from the Tamaverse Ticket Shop for around ¥990 (tax included) and "enter" the area that way. You'll need your Uni on firmware version 2.9.0 or higher and a linked Tamaverse account. No cartridges, no QR codes on a shelf — it's a purely downloadable, account-locked add-on.
There's also a real quirk to plan around: at any one time, you can only be in one DL Area through the Tama Portal. If you switch areas, any DL Area–exclusive items you've placed or equipped get deleted. So if you've lovingly arranged Baby's Dream's furniture, switching back to an older area means you'll have to set things up again. It nudges you to actually live in an area rather than hop around collecting everything at once — a small design choice, but one that makes each area feel like home instead of a museum.
Why does Bandai keep doing this? Because these Tamaverse Ticket areas work perfectly for the Uni's whole lifecycle. Each one is a small, collectible injection of charm — a themed room, exclusive items, a handful of reinterpreted classics — that keeps the device feeling fresh month after month without demanding a hardware refresh. For longtime fans, it's also a nostalgia machine: watching a wobbly baby Mametchi is a different kind of payoff than the grown-up versions we grew up raising.
If you already have your Uni and you're on current firmware, Baby's Dream is a warm, low-stakes reason to check in. If you've never touched the Uni's DLC at all, this is a gentle, adorable on-ramp — a sleepy little corner of the Tamagotchi universe worth the ¥990 ticket. Nap time never looked this charming.
