For anyone who's been out of the loop since the keychain days, here's the headline: the Tamagotchi family has grown up, and the current-generation device — the Tamagotchi Uni from Bandai — is the first in the series to carry built-in Wi-Fi. It's not just a screen with a digital pet on it anymore. It's a handheld that reaches out to a connected world, with updates and online features that the egg-shaped originals could only dream of.
The new kids on the block: Aurora Pink & Prism White
The most recent chapter in the Uni story came in October 2025, when Bandai unveiled two exclusive colorways: Aurora Pink and Prism White.
These are premium, made-to-order pieces, sold through Premium Bandai. The price point reflects the exclusivity: ¥8,250 (about 55 USD, give or take) each. Preorders opened on October 10, 2025, with shipping scheduled for December 2025. If you wanted one, you were committing early — made-to-order means exactly what it says.
These aren't just paint jobs for existing fans. Limited colorways like these are part of what's made the Uni line feel like a collectible hobby again, not just a toy. Some people buy one to play. Some buy several, because the shelf is becoming part of the fun.
How we got here: a quick recap
The 2025 colorways didn't arrive out of nowhere. In mid-2024, the Uni line had a banner season. There was the Tamagotchi Uni Sanrio characters collaboration — a Hello Kitty-inspired device in red and pink with ribbons and a milky-red band, which also brought Sanrio Puroland into the Tamaverse. It launched July 13, 2024.
Right around the same time came the second wave of the series: the Tamagotchi Uni Angel Festival with its pastel pink palette, and the Tamagotchi Uni Monster Carnival in a dark purple and neon green punk design. Both carried a $59.99 MSRP and preorder availability ahead of their July 13, 2024 release. Both included a TAMA SEARCH update that let you meet up to 100 characters in your area. Same day, two distinct moods — one soft and sweet, one loud and spooky. The Uni was covering all its bases.
Where to follow the news
If you want official drops as they happen, @tamagotchi_us is the account to watch — the official US Tamagotchi feed with around 97,000 followers and roughly 2,355 posts. It's where announcements, colorways, and restocks tend to surface first. Set a reminder, and keep your eyes open around the holidays when limited runs tend to pop up.
The Wi-Fi era is still early, and Bandai is clearly having fun with it. If 2024's festival season and 2025's limited colorways are any sign, the Tamagotchi Uni is only getting started.
