Some partnerships just make sense. When two of the most iconic names in cute come together, you don't ask why — you just say yes. That's exactly the energy behind the Tamagotchi Uni Sanrio characters collaboration.
Announced as part of the Uni line's 2024 push, the collaboration brings a Hello Kitty-inspired device to the Tamagotchi family: red and pink throughout, finished with ribbons and a milky-red band. If Hello Kitty had her own digital pet, it would look a lot like this.
Cute outside, cute inside
It wasn't just a skin. The collaboration carried a proper Tamaverse Ticket, which opened up Sanrio Puroland inside the Tamaverse — the online world you can visit from the Uni's built-in Wi-Fi connection. So the charm of the collaboration went a little deeper than the shell. You weren't just carrying a Hello Kitty-colored Tamagotchi. You were roaming around Puroland itself with your pet. That's the kind of detail collectors and casual fans alike genuinely love.
The whole bundle — device plus Tamaverse Ticket — officially released on July 13, 2024 (JST).
One highlight of a busy season
The Sanrio collaboration didn't arrive alone. It landed right in the middle of a very good year for the Uni line.
Around the same time, the second wave of Uni devices hit: the Tamagotchi Uni Angel Festival, all pastel pinks and softness, and the Tamagotchi Uni Monster Carnival, a dark purple and neon green punk design with its own attitude. Both were set at a $59.99 MSRP and both shipped with the TAMA SEARCH update that lets you meet up to 100 characters in your area.
So July 2024 had a little something for every taste: sweet and dreamy, loud and spooky, and now a red-and-pink ribbon-tied Hello Kitty edition in the middle of it all. The Sanrio collab may have been the most head-turning of the three — but they all shared the same idea: the Uni is a line that likes to play in different lanes, and it does it well.
